The Beautiful Battle

Mary DeMuth's book "The Beautiful Battle," releases tomorrow, February 1st. I am so excited to get a copy into my hands and read it. From what I've heard from Mary's book trailer, it is such a needed book about women and spiritual warfare. And it sounds like the spiritual warfare that I've undergone as a mother of three children.

If you wish to enter her contest for a chance to win "The Beautiful Battle," click on Mary DeMuth's name up above and read her blog.

God bless you, Mary!

National Hugging Day

A fellow writer, Charlie Perryess, has a wonderful blog titled Wordmonger. As he researched for his post, he discovered National Hugging Day coming up on January 21st.

Stop by Charlie's blog and read about where the word hug originated.

Hug someone on January 21st.

Photo taken twenty years ago and is of my baby brother Eric, hugging his newborn daughter.

Until next time . . . read your dictionary.

My First Book Signing Experience

I conducted three book signing events for the two book anthologies, for which I have contributions.

Altogether, I sold seven books at the signings. That's not bad. Most importantly, I learned a lot of what goes into these events. I made bookmarks for each book, posters for display and to send to friends and family announcing the events. I updated my business cards. I advertised in newspapers, Face book, E-mail, and my blogs. A radio station interviewed me about the books.

I knew next to nothing about promotion, but I had help from my online critique group and Christian writers list serve. Thank you everybody!

Most of my sells came from family and friends, and that totaled seventeen books. "Love Is A Verb Devotional" sold twelve copies, and "Celebrating Christmas With . . . Memories, Poetry, and Good Food" sold five.

I appreciate the support I received from those who bought books from me. It means so much that you purchased a book to read one story of mine.

That's plain sweet!

All totaled for books sells? Twenty-four. Yippee!!! Thank you, thank you, everyone!

After all the work that went into promotion, I've settled into a fuller writing routine. I did squeeze in some writing during the books' promotions. For that I focused on writing four devotionals for the next upcoming anthology project.

The deadline (January 10) looms for this anthology, "God Still Meets Needs," with Editor Mark Littleton. To contact Mr. Littleton, E-mail him at GodMeetsNeeds@earthlink.net.

The above photo was taken by my husband and is of me and one of my customers at the first book signing event. The book shown upright on the edge of the table, "Love Is A Verb Devotional: 365 Daily Inspirations To Bring Love Alive," is in its second printing.

Until next time . . . do all for the glory of God.
